Thank you for coming!
Aki's morning greeting, "I look forward to serving your
penis today!" suddenly makes me harbor dirty thoughts
about the usual goodbye lines we get from fastfood restaurant
staff. Slave Doll sure puts a unique perspective in your daily
morning routine, and she does it with a smile, too. The story
of Andmaid Aki goes along the same concept as Mail
Order Maiden and Buttobi
CPU, which featured almost-human robots, made especially
for their masters' sexual pleasure. Unlike the other two titles,
however, Slave Doll isn't a comedy, despite its laughable
DVD cover summary. One thing's for sure, though, Aki is adorable,
particularly in the opening sequences. That's where most of
her playful personality is truly shown.
When the opening scene ends, the viewer is then treated to
a repertoire of hardcore erotica. Aki stops goofing around
and she becomes the all around sex toy that everyone expects
her to be. There are no real plotlines for the first few and
the last few chapters. Kenichi, the lead guy mentioned at
the back of the DVD, comes in at the middle, sandwiched between
steamy PWP* scenarios. They probably did this, saturate us
with h-scenes, to prepare us for the actual story. I'm not
saying that Kenichi's tale is entirely devoid of sex. It's
just that when he comes in, the sex almost takes a backseat.
Almost…
Now, I must commend the makers of Slave Doll here. Aki, like
every other non-human entity in various sci-fi movies, falls
in love and longs to live a normal human life. Yes, it's cliché,
but how she and Kenichi deal with their feelings is not something
you usually see in a hentai fare. You really feel the turbulent
emotions flow between them—how they grow out of their individual
shells and how they know deep down that it would eventually
come to a tragic conclusion. In my entire h-viewing life,
I couldn't believe it when these two lonely souls actually
managed to put a telltale lump in my throat.
While going through the OVA, you may notice that Aki never
goes all the way with any of the men she services. She goes
all the way with vegetables, with the shower, with her fingers,
and with other androids. But not with the men. Her uterus
is special, so only genetically superior semen are allowed
to get in there.
The Slave Doll DVD is packed with a lot of extras, which
is surprising because this one was released in the US by Kitty
Media. The most notable of all are the short stills with Aki's
voice-overs that are reminiscent of recent bishoujo games.
All in all, I'd say this title is a fun and satisfying package.
(But watch out for those repetitive frames!) A little word
of caution to those who are not into S&M stuff: there
are several scenes that deal with body piercings in inappropriate
places.
